what’s in a house?
this simple house is what defines my love for Lake Wallenpaupack. built in the 70s by my Nanny & Grandad, they intended to retire here. the year my Grandad retired, i was born. they couldn’t bare to leave their first grandchild, so it has been a vacation home ever since. and boy am i glad! this house holds stories we re-tell over every holiday. memories of sandy feet as a child. it holds laughter inside and smells that define the surroundings. much of this house was built by the hands of our family. my Grandad, dad, and uncle David. this house holds hidden messages behind the rocks of the fireplace written on the dry wall. this house holds the sounds of summertime. tennis matches and golf on tv. big band music coming from the stereo while getting ready for dinner at the Yacht Club. this house is more than a house. it’s a treasure box of memories that have defined my life.
